Renewal and Back Up

I apologize for any issues experienced yesterday and this morning.
I was extremely busy and forgot to renew donemyway.com.
All subdomains and domains should now be up and running properly.

Also, our backup VPS went down and everything on it was lost.
The backup VPS is completely unmanaged.
As a result, I have to install FTP, create/configure directories, and create/configure users.
Then, link the data on our main VPS to the backup VPS.
Daily off-site backups will resume ~~by December 12th.~~ on January 9th.

As always, you can manually download backups through cPanel at any time.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

Blew a Fuse

I apologize for the 12+ hours of downtime we experienced.
Our primary host’s data center had a major power outage, more info?
Our offsite backup host remained up, with account data updated on 8-10-11.

This is our first instance of downtime in three years of existence.
Hopefully, there won’t be anymore in the near future!
I suppose I’ll have to change “Perfect up-time” to “Near perfect up-time”.

Long time no see! Just two quick updates.

1. No more advertisements
- There is a new 100 x 100 link back code.
- You may still use the ad code if you want.
- All “MY FREE HOST” buttons must be removed.

2. Crack down on inactivity
- “Under construction” websites do not count as updated (even if you add a new message).
- If you fail to update 30+ days back-to-back, you are automatically removed.
- For example: You get an inactivity notice in July. So, you update a few days later. If you get another inactivity notice in August, your account is removed.

The domain rental members have been given new accounts at my domain listing.
The Rent Out features domain listings from various members (not just me).
The subdomain members have been set up with cPanel.
Members who were inactive or moved have been removed.

I may have a members-only contest in August.

I have been too busy to properly respond to emails as of late.
I’d like to thank my supervisors for performing without any reminders.

** New subdomain ending **
I have added dmw7.com as a subdomain ending.
I wanted to make sure I had a very short, yet relevant, option.

** New domains for rent **
kerrylou.net has been donated by the awesome Kerry at tinyscars.com.
lovemedead.net has been donated by the amazing Joseph at josephgerman.com.
Please visit them!

** Domain rentals moved **
Domain rentals have been moved to a different website; therentout.com. I decided to separate the rentals from everything else,
because (1) I have so many domain names and (2) my criteria and rules are very different for domain rentals.

** cPanel for everyone **
Subdomain members are now also given cPanel accounts. Although, a FTP account can still be used.

** Open for external domains **
I am now hosting external domains again. This means you can use a domain you already have with this hosting.

** No more hosting **
Members are no longer allowed to host others with their Dmw account.

** FTP quota **
The number of FTP accounts allowed is going from 10 to 1. Since hosting is no longer allowed.

** New link code **
There is a new required link back code. It is a banner with a height of 30 pixels. The minimum width is 685 pixels.
But, the width is set to take up 100% of the page. It will go best at the very top or very bottom of a page, but can be put anywhere.

** Advertisements **
The new link code includes one text-link Google Adsense advertisement.
I have started requiring ads to help with the costs of hosting and domain names.

Too many accounts are being set up for people who “never got” their acceptance/info emails.

The 3 supervisors have been selected! They are Nugget, Hannah, and Ana.

I appreciate the 37 people who contacted me about the positions.
Hopefully, I will need more supervisors in the future.

Another domain has been donated by the awesome Vicky.
It is my only .me domain, and called cloudyazure.me.
